El presidente Juan Manuel Santos, recibió ayer a su homólogo austriaco Heinz Fischer, con quien se ratificó el compromiso de la República Federal de Austria con el posconflicto y protocolizó nuevamente la apertura de una embajada de dicho país en Bogotá.
El jefe de Estado aseguró que Austria tiene proyectos de agroindustria y biodiversidad, los cuales entrarían a unirse con proyectos colombianos. "Esperamos que investigadores y científicos de Austria entren a iniciativas como Bio Colombia".
"Con el apoyo al proceso de paz, discutimos el fortalecimiento del turismo, esperando que con la firma de la paz, las advertencias de viaje que se les hace a los turistas austriacos para viajar a zonas de conflicto se acaben y vean a nuestro país como un destino seguro y tranquilo", afirmó Santos.
Ante esto, el presidente Heinz dijo que pese a lo que se cree no existe una amonestación para los viajeros que vengan de Austria a Colombia. “Es una tradición de nuestro Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores dar algunas recomendaciones frente a países que se encuentran en conflicto. Esperamos que con la energía que se le impone a la paz, se llegue al posconflicto y se eliminen dichas recomendaciones".
El primer mandatario austriaco agregó que están cercanos a un intercambio de 150 millones de euros entre las dos naciones, el cual tiene miras a un posible tratado de libre comercio entre la Unión Europea y Colombia, así como convenios de doble tributación que impulsarán las economías globales.
Los ministros de Justicia de ambos países firmaron un pacto para empezar a dialogar un posible acuerdo de justicia para la paz, que tiene como punto importante la repatriación de presos de Austria a Colombia.
