Según aseguró el ministro de Defensa, Luis Carlos Villegas, desde su cuenta en Twitter, este miércoles se reiniciarán las labores de desminado humanitario en la vereda El Orejón (Antioquia), el cual se había suspendido el pasado miércoles tras la muerte del soldado Wilson de Jesús Martínez de 37 años, quien en desarrollo de este programa pisó una mina antipersonal.
Señala el ministro que en esta ocasión se utilizarán robots para disminuir el nivel del riesgo y evitar que casos como el del soldado Martínez se repitan, mientras se busca erradicar este tipo de explosivos en el país.
Adicionalmente, se impartirá un proceso de reentrenamiento para que las debilidades que se notaron en la primera fase de este proceso queden fortalecidas, para garantizar un trabajo con altos estándares de calidad y seguridad.
Dichos robots son además tecnología nacional, ya que son construidos por la Universidad Eafit (Medellín) y son una especie de vehículo pequeño cuyo interior está compuesto por un mecanismo que activa las minas que encuentra a su paso.
Esta labor que se reinicia hoy, acorde a lo trinado por el ministerio se hará con la participación de 3 delegados de Farc, 3 representantes del Gobierno Nacional y 39 Desminadores Humanitarios para de este modo “restaurar los derechos de la ciudadanía y el uso productivo de la tierra”.
