"Colombia es el país con mayor diversidad del planeta tierra y eso es increíble, porque en todo el mundo hay 76 millones de fanáticos que están saliendo a buscar destinos para observar aves".
El biólogo argentino, observador de aves y guía internacional Horacio Matarasso, durante la apertura del Quinto Congreso de Aviturismo que se realiza en Manizales.
El experto resaltó la proyección de Caldas para convertirse en una potencia en este tipo de destinos, al punto de lograr la sede de la feria suramericana de aves que se efectuará en el 2018.
A pesar de los problemas climáticos que se tuvieron y la imposibilidad de que llegaran dirigentes del Ministerio de Comercio, Cotelco y Fontur, el congreso efectuado en el Ritual del Café, en el Recinto del Pensamiento, se llenó con unas 300 personas tanto de nacionales como de otros países que quisieron escuchar más sobre este atractivo turístico.
Juana Carolina Londoño, presidenta de Fiducóldex y quien instaló el evento, destacó la posibilidad de mayores recursos del Fondo Nacional de Turismo (Fontur), patrimonio autónomo del Ministerio de Comercio, Industria y Turismo.
"Lo anterior teniendo en cuenta que el turismo y el avistamiento de aves serán dos ejes importantes de desarrollo en el proceso de posconflicto, por eso Caldas está remando en el camino correcto".

Según Germán Maldonado, miembro de la junta nacional de la Asociación Hotelera de Colombia (Cotelco), esta industria empieza a convertirse en un polo desarrollo económico, pues se trata de un atractivo natural que se puede capitalizar más. Solo en la ocupación hotelera se puede pasar del 30% al 35% durante los fines de semana a una ocupación entre el 60% y el 65%, sostuvo.
Lorena Jurado, directora de Cotelco Caldas, indicó que las condiciones están dadas y ahora la tarea es seguir fortaleciendo y dinamizando esta actividad, con el fin de cautivar los avituristas del mundo, que en promedio gastan al día entre 250 y 350 dólares, entre $770 mil y $1 millón 70 mil. "Por eso debemos trabajar cada vez más para que esta industria se consolide", sostuvo.
A su turno el secretario de Desarrollo Económico, Miguel Trujillo, señaló que Manizales y Caldas se convirtieron en un polo de desarrollo para el aviturismo y por ende, el respaldo nacional del Gobierno.
